7 hit in serious crash recovering after near tragedy

Imagine taking a leisurely stroll with your family. You’re all in one place, and it’s a great time spent together. Suddenly, a driver comes out of nowhere, speeding through a residential area. You can’t get out of the way, and all of you, including your children and other loved ones, are hit.

That may have been what happened in this case. A family struck by a vehicle is healing after the near-death of an infant family member, according to news out of Danville. The infant was one of seven people who were hit by a car in Mountain Top. She was left critically injured by the collision. Her mother, a 37-year-old woman, is in critical condition at Geisinger Medical Center.

How could such a serious collision happen? The collision happened when a vehicle driven by a 51-year-old driver collided with the family — the mother, father, infant, three siblings and a cousin — when they were walking in the Polonia Estates housing development. Initially, the father and two sons were treated and released from the hospital. Their 8-year-old niece was released a few days later. Their 5-year-old daughter is now in fair condition, and both the mother and infant are improving.

Right now, the police are waiting for a toxicology report to determine if the driver violated any laws. An investigation into how the accident took place is still pending.

This situation has turned out fairly well, with each person surviving the ordeal. For some time, it wasn’t sure if that would be the case. If a situation like this occurs because a driver isn’t paying attention to where you are, you have a right to pursue a claim. Drivers must be held responsible for their actions.
